Assessment Criteria 1

1. This topic is of current national importance.

National Importance
The private sector makes great use of the census by mapping consumer demographics. After that we attach it consumption data, usually by purchasing credit card data or through surveys with much smaller sample sizes. Needless to say, it would be much more accurate if the we had a complete census of the population rather than extrapolating from smaller samples.

Assessment Criteria 2

2. There is a need for data from a Census of the whole population.

For whole population
As per q1, currently doing it with far less accurate means. Would improve the wellbeing of Australians if the census incorporated this

Assessment Criteria 3

3. The topic can be accurately collected in a form which the household completes themselves.

Easy to answer
Already collecting on a small scale in the HES. Just want you to fully roll out in the census

Assessment Criteria 4

4. The topic would be acceptable to Census respondents.

Acceptable
Respondents already participating in the HES therefore no risk

Assessment Criteria 5

5. The topic can be collected efficiently.

Collected efficiently
Integers are the easiest to collect

Assessment Criteria 6

6. There is likely to be a continuing need for data on this topic in the following Census.

Continuing need
Absolutely no doubt

Assessment Criteria 7

7. There are no other alternative data sources or solutions that could meet the topic need.
