Assessment Criteria 1

1. This topic is of current national importance.

National Importance
As part of tracking individual and household income sources, it is suggested that questions relating to other sources of income could be added. It would be useful to track Government payments to individuals and households so that a spatial analysis of benefit recipients could be undertaken and increases and decreases in the number of persons receiving benefits could be tracked and compared over time. This could be useful for service providers and for local Councils to assess potential areas of need within their communities.

Assessment Criteria 2

2. There is a need for data from a Census of the whole population.

Income data is useful at both the local and National levels and the ability to cross-correlate income data with other Census data is useful in understanding communities and spatial patterns and needs.
