Assessment Criteria 1

1. This topic is of current national importance.

National Importance
It is suggested that the following questions should be added to the questions about housing:
• What type of internet access is available at this dwelling?
This question would assist in identifying levels of access and areas of limited connectivity both locally and Nationally.

• How many car parking spaces are specifically allocated for the dwelling?
• How many of these car parking spaces are used by the permanent residents of the dwelling?

These questions would assist in understanding the changing patterns of car usage on a spatial basis both locally and Nationally.

Assessment Criteria 2

2. There is a need for data from a Census of the whole population.

For whole population
Internet coverage and car parking are issues of relevance to small population and geographic areas as well as larger ones. This data could be cross-correlated with other Census data to provide some very interesting insights into how people in different areas live and how this changes over time.

Assessment Criteria 3

3. The topic can be accurately collected in a form which the household completes themselves.

Easy to answer
It is considered that this data would be relatively easy to collect via the Census.

Assessment Criteria 4

4. The topic would be acceptable to Census respondents.

Acceptable
The topics are not likely to be considered intrusive, offensive or controversial.

Assessment Criteria 5

5. The topic can be collected efficiently.

Collected efficiently
It is assumed that the data could be relatively easy to collect and process.

Assessment Criteria 6

6. There is likely to be a continuing need for data on this topic in the following Census.

Continuing need
There is a need for time series data on these topics and the importance of these topics is likely to increase in the future.

Assessment Criteria 7

7. There are no other alternative data sources or solutions that could meet the topic need.

No alternatives
It is not known by the authors of this submission whether or not comprehensive, continuous, spatially based data on these topics is collected via other sources.
